There are many variations of poker, most of them played with a standard deck of 52 cards.

Poker games involve rounds of betting into a common ‘pot’ and rounds of replacing or receiving cards. The number of betting rounds and card draws depends on the particular variation of the game you are playing and each betting round ends when all players have contributed to the pot equally.

Texas Hold'em
Texas Hold'em is truly the most popular and exciting of all poker games. It has rapidly become the most played form of poker, made famous around the world as the game of choice for many top pros as well as social players.

This 7-card game is easy to understand; players have to make the best 5-card hand possible from a choice of 2-hole cards (also known as pocket cards) dealt face down to each player and five community cards everyone can use.

Omaha

OMAHA

Although Omaha is also a variation of "Hold'em" games (both Texas and Omaha combine the cards in your hand, some community cards and a four round betting structure) nobody calls this game "Omaha Hold'em" - just "Omaha".

While similar to Texas Hold'em (which most people just call "Hold'em") Omaha continues to be popular at the higher and lower limits. Every player is dealt four cards and to make their best hand, players must use exactly two of them in combination with three of the five community cards. The best five-card poker hand wins the pot.

7 CARD STUD

7 Card Stud has a reputation as one of the most well known poker games, and is often considered more sophisticated than Texas Hold'em because of the betting structure. This form of poker does not involve any community cards, only a mixture of "pocket" (also known as "hole") cards and "door" cards from which your best hand is to be selected.

Players are dealt seven cards throughout the course of the hand, but only the best five-card hand possible for each player is used to determine the winner.

Draw Poker

5 CARD DRAW POKER

Draw Poker is the basic form of Poker and the place to start when introducing new players to the game. It's fairly uncommon these days in the casinos, but it is the form from which all other Poker games are derived.

The essence of Draw Poker is that the player builds a hand from 5 cards. After the initial round of betting the player may discard some or all of their cards and receive replacements. The players cards should never be revealed until the final Showdown, and are only then if absolutely necessary (more on that later). During the game, all cards are dealt and discarded face down.
